shades of grey

In my closet you’ll find more than fifty shades of grey and black, including this comfy Topshop t-shirt dress and oversized cable-knit sweater. This out is my favorite way to mix up my usual jeans and a t-shirt look.

Last weekend I went to the movies by myself, for the very first time, and saw Fifty Shades Darker. First, I will now being going to the movies so much more often because going alone is actually so fun and not weird at all. I love my alone time, but doing things alone that are traditionally done with other people (like going out to eat at a restaurant) is not something I enjoy. But I stopped at Whole Foods beforehand and picked up a jar of black cherry Talenti Gelato and a few Alter Eco Truffles (to put in the gelato of course) and had the best time.

Second, the movie was actually really good! Whether or not you’ve read the books, the second movie was really enjoyable to watch. The chemistry between Christian and Anastasia was actually visible, the story lines matched the book almost identically, and to say it bluntly, a fairly erotic movie. Oh, and the soundtrack is amazing. 10/10 would recommend seeing it.

Third, my hair is now quite literally fifty shades darker. A traumatizing salon experience and two horrible dye-jobs later, I’m a brunette. In case you missed my Instagram story rant, my plan was to have gray ombréd hair. But it turned out blue/green and then when they tried to fix it, it turned orange. And while these photos are making me nostalgic for my blonde hair, the new color is growing on me and I kind of finally feel like the Italian I truly am.

So let’s call this look an ode to my old hair, to the gray hair that may never be, and to my love of not wearing any color. My closet is filled with varying shades of grey and black but I’m mixing it up and adding just a little femininity with this oh so comfy t-shirt dress I picked up from Topshop while I was in London. A t-shirt dress, paired with a cool pair of booties and an oversized sweater is the easiest way to feel a little ‘dressed up’ while still being incredibly comfortable.
